Transition made me move 900km away from home — thank you

I just moved into a 20-habitants rural village 900km away from what was home — and I can partially thank the Transition movement for that.

I left the city flat I lived in by January and I’m finally moving into the new house, after lots of paperwork and renovations. I’ve been here for only a couple of weeks and I can already notice the changes. I can literally hear silence, sometimes interrupted by the diverse choir of singing birds. I can feel the clean and light air I breathe. I noticed I sleep much better and don’t have the need for activities to lower my stress levels. And it hasn’t been easy, but feeling the connection to Nature, to loved ones and to my true self really makes a difference.

My new home

I heard about the Transition movement several years ago, during a postgraduate programme I was enrolled in. I was fascinated by its energy, by the cohesion and caring I could sense, by the commitment and good heart I could perceive from people involved in it. I remember myself saying out loud “I love it! I would like to devote myself to this!”. A year later I joined Transition Spain.

Through all the past (almost) five years I’ve learned a lot. Community, resilience, resources, energy, facilitation, governance… I’ve read, I’ve watched, I’ve participated, I’ve facilitated, I’ve changed, I’ve evolved. I wouldn’t be who I am today without being touched by the amazing people I had the pleasure to meet in this here and now, in this corner of the universe, in this moment; without the trainings, without the meetings, without the (once scary) conflicts.

This year I joined the Transition Network’s Inner Transition Circle. What a gift, deepening into inner-outer Transition and continuing the self-decolonization and deconstruction learning-working journey.

A pathway I love to walk by next to home

I feel there’s a lot going on. I feel a huge evolution. And I believe this in and out transformation is possible because the inner aspect is given proper attention. I can say that one great cause that helped me have the courage for implementing such a change to live far more connected and attentive to myself, to my communities and to Nature, is the Transition movement and its huge heart. So I may know you or may not, but receive my sincere gratitude.
